Life Matter: Your Thought Life
January 06, 2015
"How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?" - Psalm 13:1-2.
When you are suffering, there are two questions that generally arise: why is this happening and how long will it last? David described this battle as an internal one, for his heart had sorrow and he was battling thoughts of God's possible unfaithfulness amidst the seemingly endless nature of his pain. Your mind is the battleground for your spirituality. Paul wrote that we cannot rest until "we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5). Lord, today I choose to believe that You are faithful and I commit to wrestle with my thought life to make sure it focuses on and accepts that truth.
