Crisis at Upako
On a Happier Note

Upako Update

UpakoNew5I did not receive a written update from Pastor Francis, but he did send some pictures of the new Upako Centre venue to which they have to transport the children. You can see their "transport" in one of the attached pictures, and it looks like a pickup truck. It is interesting that the landlord who evicted them wants to build a church on the site, and the locals have vowed to burn it down when it's built. It will be difficult to burn down a metal building, and the whole scenario is quite confusing.

The good news is that I will be wiring $2,250 to Pastor Francis today or tomorrow for him to use as he sees fit UpakoNew4int he relocation process. Since I already sent $500, that will total $2,750 contributed to their cause, but I know more needs to be done. If you did not already give, or perhaps if you did, I urge you to consider a gift today. Even $5 will help Pastor Francis provide an adequate transition to the students, especially the orphans for whom he cares.

You can give throuUpakoNew2gh a special link using PayPal or by sending a tax-deductible check to PurposeQuest, PO  Box 8882, Pittsburgh, PA 15221-0882. Some have written this week for more details on exactly what happened at Upako, and I am reporting all that I know, and will continue to pass along updates for your prayerUpakoNew1ful attention and consideration. If you missed last week's report on what happened at Upako, you can read about it here. In the meantime, please be praying and giving as the Spirit leads you to do. Thank you!
