Life Matter: Vindication
January 05, 2015
"Let the Lord judge the peoples. Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High" - Psalm 7:8.
It's difficult to stand back and wait for the Lord to vindicate you if you have been wrongly accused or if someone unjustly criticizes or maligns you. Today's mindset is to take legal action or to counterattack when your reputation is sullied. Yet the psalmist in today's verse prayed that God would be the One to vindicate him, just like Jesus did: "When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly (1 Peter 2:23). That meant that both Jesus and the psalmist had to wait for God to do it in His own time and in His own way. Lord, I put You in charge of my image and my defense. I choose not to defend myself, but will wait for you to do so—or not!
