A New Library

I heard from both Pastor Francis and Peter this past week. Francis was reminding me that school fees for little Mary are due at the beginning of January (Alice also sent me a reminder) and Peter gave us an update on the library. Before I give you the library update, let me insert that all the children we sponsor need about $3,700 by January 1 for the new school year. Your gifts at this time of year go toward their food and their schooling, for without the proper education, we will have to feed them for the rest of their lives! The goal obviously is to help them navigate life on their own, without dependence on us - only on the Lord.

Peter wrote this week with some exciting news. He has taken some of the books we shipped and for which they had no room in Banana and he has started a new library in the village of Kikuyu where Peter is now pastoring! This is so exciting and makes the fifth learning center we have in Kenya. The others are in Banana, Kawangware, Sololo, and Bomet. This is why we partner with Peter and Francis: they are faithful servants who carry out the work of the ministry in our absence with integrity and vision. Here is what Peter wrote with some pictures (click to enlarge):

New Library 1Dear Dr. John,

As we usher in this month of hope and new life in Emmanuel, we have to confess that we have been overwhelmed by the faithfulness of God this past year. As a WAPIS family the New Library 2goodness of the Lord has overshadowed us and we feel even more humbled to remain as servants at His feet. At long last our new library at Kikuyu is finished and operational. Without your support and partnership from all our faithful friends, this dream would not have been achieved. May God grant you his favor and blessings this month.

He is the reason for our living,

Pastor Peter

Thank you for your support as we seek to help educate the Kenyan children. Your gifts at this time of year will go a long way toward continuing our important work there. You can give through my website or by sending a tax-deductible check to PurposeQuest, PO Box 8882, Pittsburgh, PA 15221-0882. If you have books to donate to the library, please let me know and we will work out shipping arrangements. As the year closes, why not make a gift of thanks to honor how God has blessed your own family, children and grandchildren. Remember the orphans and poor this Christmas season with your generous gift today! Thank you and Merry Christmas!
