Rest Stop 24

"That is why I was angry with that generation;
    I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
    and they have not known my ways.’
So I declared on oath in my anger,
    ‘They shall never enter my rest’ ” - Hebrews 3:10-11.

These two verses indicate that rest is something that God gives or withholds, permits or forbids, based on the heart attitude of the rest-er. And the rest here was not one of leisure or no activity, but rather one that comes from putting complete trust in God for provision, protection and purpose. When people knows God's ways, they will not fret or worry about when and how He provides or how He disciplines and trains His children to trust and follow Him. It is critical for leaders to learn this, for they will influence their followers to trust God with confidence, or panic and fear because of unbelief.

LEADERSHIP STEP: Your Rest Stop today is to study the concept of worry and realize that it is not just a bad habit - it is disobedience and sin. Worry and anxiety will cause you to lose sleep and rest, even if you are on vacation or absent from your workplace. Here is the link to study Jesus' words on worry. When you look at them, see that it is His command not to worry. Then reflect on what anxious tension is costing you physically in health and general well-being.
