Rest Stop 22

"Therefore, since the promise of entering
his rest still stands, let us be careful that
none of you be found to have fallen short of it" - Hebrews 4:1.

The concept of rest in this verse does not seem to be a day or event, but a lifestyle. What's more, the rest doesn't appear to belong to the person resting but of the person giving that rest, who of course is Christ. The rest is a rest of faith, where the believer ceases striving to make something happen but rather rejoices in what God causes to happen. That kind of rest leads to joy and the joy leads to strength, but a supernatual strength that comes from God. While leaders are often looked upon to make things happen, in Christ they can take comfort and rest from the fact that God has their back in their struggles to lead.

LEADERSHIP STEP: Your Step today is to take a total break from the pressures of leadership and life. You will not only make a decision to put things in God's hands, but you will actually physically get away from the stress. Go somewhere you enjoy or love and don't check your email, don't accept phone calls and don't allow yourself to think about what happened last week or what needs to happen next week. Put it in God's hands and walk away in body and mind.
