The Container Is Gone!
April 13, 2014
Last Wednesday was an exciting red letter day in the history of my work in Kenya and for the team who so ably assists me there. On that day, the warehouse was emptied, the container was loaded, sealed and then driven to Baltimore. If all goes well, the container will depart Monday and arrive in Nairobi on June 8. As you can see, everything is carefully marked and color-coded, for the contents will be distributed to numerous groups for libraries, children's outreach, and shoe distribution.
My profound thanks goes out to Deanna Hritz and Cheryl Bradbury for their tireless efforts in collecting, sorting, packing and marking the boxes. Special thanks to J.R. Reid and his team from JR Sales in McKees Rocks who donated the warehouse space and didn't press us to move things out even when they renovated and needed the space. I am grateful to many other team members who collected resources, dropped them off and helped pack the boxes.
Three men from Light of Light Rescue Mission came last week to pack the truck and see it off. Thanks to all the members of Allegheny Center Alliance Church and students at the Center for Urban Biblical Ministry who contributed much of what we shipped, and thanks to Sue Kantz who donated the musical and audio equipment for the music school. Thanks to ACAC again for storing the donated items until we could move them to the warehouse. My thanks to Pastor Ron Matheny, Pastor Joel Chola in Kenya and all the Charles Matheny Ministries team who will receive the container and oversee the distribution.
Thank you, dear reader, for contributing toward the $10,000 that will be needed to ship the container and clear customs. Again,I send out a special recognition to J.R. Reid who sponsored the PIrates' baseball game where we raised money for the project. It is amazing that we already have enough to start filling another container, which we will ship as soon as we have can fill it up.
As you can tell, my heart is overflowing with gratitude. It's not over, however, until the stuff is delivered, so please keep praying and I will keep you posted. I received $343 this past week toward our work in Kenya and money is needed to keep the work going as we feed. clothe and educate orphans. You can contribute to this great cause by using PayPal through my website or by sending a check to PurposeQuest, PO Box 8882, Pittsburgh, PA 15221-0882. Thank you again for your generous support and thank You, Lord, that the container, once only a dream, is not a reality and on its way!
