Rest Stop 1

"Then he said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath'" - Mark 2:27.
God rested on the seventh day, but not because He was tired. He was establishing a pattern for mankind to work hard, and then take time to replenish and refresh so they could enjoy what had been done before they began the process all over again. The principle was not to establish a Sabbath holy day, but to establish a holy cycle of work and rest, rest and work. The Sabbath day was made for man to enjoy and worship, not for man to slavishly observe legalistic rituals.
LEADERSHIP STEP: There is a saying that goes, "Word hard, play hard, rest hard." Are you earning your rest times through diligent work and intense play? When you shut down, are you doing things that refresh and strengthen you? Do you feel refreshed after your down time? What can you do to establish a cycle in your life of work and rest, rest and work? Is the Lord included in your rest times as you worship and immerse yourself in His Word?
