The Big Blessing Update
January 15, 2012
I got some pictures and a video from Texas that show our boxes being loaded onto a 40-foot trailer to ship to Kenya and thought I would share them with you. The cost of the shipment to Kenya is just under $2000; the cost of getting the stuff to Texas via FedEx is almost twice that! Go figure! We didn't have time to drive it down ourselves, or else we could have saved money, so we are trusting the Lord that He will continue to provide.
Also, I received some pictures from Pastor Francis showing the renovations at Upako Centre and I am attaching those pictures as well. We are raising money as part of the $25,000 The Big Blessing initiative for Pastor Francis to establish a revenue-producing project. We must help Upako and others like them to have income other than the meagre handouts they receive from the government or other local sources so they can be self-sufficient.
Speaking of The Big Blessing, here is the latest accouting I promised you toward that initiative:
1) Remember the $750 matching grant that expired December 31? We actually raised $1,905, including the $750 match. 2) That matching grant total is included in the grand total of $9,442 raised to date. Some of that was distributed when I went over in December (about $3,000) and I will be paying the shipping soon on the boxes heading over in the container.
That means we are 40% toward our goal, but I need a lot more help to reach the $25,000 target. Can you help me? Perhaps you can issue a matching grant (a specific amount that you promise to match if others give first by a certain deadline) or just a straight up contribution. You can give through my website or by sending a check to PurposeQuest, PO Box 8882, Pittsburgh, PA 15221-0882. I am confident that the Lord is going to help us reach our goal, and he may use you to help. Just do whatever He directs and I know the people of Kenya will be blessed. Thank you and God bless you.
