I heard from Pastor Francis at the Upako Centre twice since my visit to Kenya.  Here is his first thank you note, acknowledging the $1,000 I gave him for food.

Dear Dr. John,

Peace and all that is good be with you.I hope your journey was good? We are so humbled by your recent visit to Nairobi when you donated $1000 to feed orphans at Upako Children Centre in Nairobi. The money came in at a time when life is not easy at all for slum dwellers and we want to thank you and all involved for the continuous help.

The money is going to be used for food and the kids  will have a Merry Christmas with the children like is going to happen in the neighborhood. May God bless you and all. Your visit was a blessing to us and we pray that it continues as God provides. Will keep you posted.

Here is his second note of thanks and Christmas greeting.

Dear Dr. John,

That you made the orphans ministry in Upako Centre. As we approach Christmas and remember Christ’s coming to earth as a child I would like to wish you all God’s blessing now and into the New Year.

The Upako family wishes you and your family a very happy Christmas and prosperous 2012, full of peace from God. We have come to the end of 2011 and we can’t afford to forget your deep involvement with us throughout the year. Had it not been for your support, this year could have been difficult for us now that food is very expensive.

Upako centre is a home for 37 orphans who depend entirely on our provision on daily basis for their basic needs and a school for 160 vulnerable children from within Kawangware slums who get lunch and  free education at the centre. Your donations made a very big difference in the lives of the children and have given us strength and hope. Thanks for your continuous money for food, renovations, new utensils and your prayers this year.

It is because of them that we wish to give you our heartfelt gratitude for your support. You can see how your donation has helped to feed all this children specifically the orphans throughout this year and it is our prayer that God keep you safe in the New Year to reach more for Him.

Upako will continue to provide free education and basic needs to the orphans, kindly remember us in prayers.

All the children are well and we are all looking forward to celebrate chrismas and usher in the New Year 2012. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY 2012.
