Proverbs 27:1
December 27, 2011
Your daily dose of Proverbs:
"Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what day may bring forth" - Proverbs 27:1.
None of us are getting out of here alive. The old die and the young can die, the reality of which should instill in us an urgency to make the most of our time. You should set ambitious long-term goals, for your times are in His hands and you may enjoy long life, while also living every day like it is your last. Are you living life to the fullest, with an eye on the future but a sober acceptance of your mortality? What can you do to maximize this day? What can you plan today that can be done in ten years, one day at a time? To understand the tension between the long and short term, read James 4:13-17, and then 1 Kings 6:37-38 and 1 Kings 7:1-3 to learn of Solomon's long-term building program. What can you do for the Lord in the next 13 years if you start today?
