Proverbs 13:2
Coming to Zimbabwe

Do Yourself a Favor.

1 WEMA Kids EatOn October 30, we had $60 toward the first portion of The Big Blessing, a $25,000 initiative to bless Kenya by the time I return next March.  Then last week I reported we had received $2,710, with the deadline for the matching grant extended to Wednesday.  I am happy to report that another $550 came in for a grand total of $3,405 received.  I am trying to wire the money over to Peter and waiting for Western Union to verify my checking accounts to do so - it is a lot cheaper to do it that way.

I leave for Zimbabwe on November 25, the day after our Thanksgiving holiday, and will then fly up to Kenya on December 4.  I will take with me any of the Sophia Fund money I have received up to that point for food, so if you are looking to make a Thanksgiving contribution to a ministry, I can use your help.

You can contribute through my website or by sending a check to PurposeQuest, PO Box 8882, Pittsburgh, PA 15221-0882. I will send reports from my visit to Kenya and I will certainly make a big year-end giving push toward The Big Blessing.

If you would like to issue a challenge gift, you can do so by letting me know how much you would like to challenge other people to give and match your gift. For example, you can give a $1,000 challenge grant to be met by December 15.  Then you would match dollar for dollar every grant that comes in toward your challenge before the deadline.  In that way, every dollar you give is generating another dollar.  What's more, I can receive multiple matching grants and a grant can be designated toward some part of The Big Blessing, such as food, widows, orphanages, or general us.

Thank you for your help in this matter.  As you give to the poor, you will be blessed yourself according to the promise in Proverbs:

  • The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor (Proverbs 22:9).
  • Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses (Proverbs 28:27).

Do yourself a favor and share your blessings with the poor this holiday season.
