Proverbs 31:3

Your daily dose of Proverbs:

“Do not spend your strength on women,
your vigor on those who ruin kings” - 31:3.

Your relationships should be godly and life-giving.  Are there any people in your life who are hindering your ability to go forward and be the person God wants you to be? Then perhaps the coming year is when you make some adjustments so you can give your energy and attention to your purpose and goals and not to so many dysfunctional people.  You may want to see what Jesus had to say about your relationships in Matthew 10:34-39 and then make any changes based on what He said.

I wish all of you and yours a Happy New Year!  Thank you for your commitment to God's Word and specifically Proverbs this past year.  May 2011 be a year of unprecedented favor from God and insight into His Word!

Proverbs 30:4

Your daily dose of Proverbs:

“Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and the name of his son?
Tell me if you know!” - 30:4.

If you were given a quiz on your faith and the Bible, how well would you do? What goals can you set in the coming year that will enable you to grow in the knowledge of your faith, the Bible and the Lord Himself? Your goals should not only be to increase learning, but to apply that learning to godly living.  End the year by reading Psalm 119 and note the connection between knowledge of the Word and holy living.  If you would rather listen to that psalm, you can do that here.

THE BIG GOAL: There is still time to give to The Big Goal in 2010.  I posted two thank you notes from Kenya to help you understand the impact you are making when you help the projects there through PurposeQuest.  You can read them here and then please give as we close out the year to help me continue the work there.  You can give through my website or send a check to PurposeQuest, PO Box 8882, Pittsburgh, PA  15221-0882. Thank you and God bless you.

Proverbs 29:3

Your daily dose of Proverbs:

“A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father” - 29:3.

What you do impacts others, for good or not. Your love for wisdom and your desire to apply it will be a blessing to your family, whether natural or church. So how can you show your love for wisdom in the coming year in a way that will bring others joy? You may want to read James 3:17-18 to get some ideas of how to love and apply wisdom.

Proverbs 28:7

Your daily dose of Proverbs:

“He who keeps the law is a discerning son” - 28:7.

You cannot become competent in anything by accident.  If you are to keep the law, you must first know the law. What goal can you set for next year that will give you more knowledge and understanding of God's word? What are your reading and learning goals? Now is the time to give that some thought!  Look at Colossians 1:9-12 and determine how you can achieve the spiritual growth goals Paul mentioned there.

Proverbs 27:1

Your daily dose of Proverbs:

"Do not boast about tomorrow,
for you do not know what  day may bring forth" - Proverbs 27:1.

You should live every day like it is your last, while at the same time setting ambitious long-term goals. What can you do to maximize this day?  What can you plan today that can be done in twenty years, one day at a time?  To understand the tension between the long- and short-term, read James 4:13-17 and Joshua 14:6-15 to learn of Caleb's 45-year plan!

Two Thank You's

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and are ready for a great New Year.  As I look back on 2010, it was a great year, and my work in Kenya may have topped the list. I received these two thank you's from Alice and Pastor Francis below and wanted to share them with you. After you are done, I hope you will find it in your heart and budget to help me reach THE BIG GOAL as I prepare to return to Kenya in March.

Dear John,

Hope the Lord continues to bless you with good health.

We at EOTOO are in good health and count our blessings for that.

On behalf of the EOTOO family, l wish to thank you and the people behind your fund-raising very Alice Pic much for the latest receipts of money for both the Chicken Coop and Sophia fund.

The US $ 1,600 translated to Kshs 128,320 and has been banked today.  The Sophia Fund donation of US $ 600 translated to Kshs 48, 120; and that too was banked today.

They are nice gifts that are ushering in what promises to be a Happy Christmas.

Our warm appreciation to everybody who has donated to the worthy cause.

For the Chicken Coop, Lilian gently tells me that "We shall look after the chicks the way we do to our own children".  With God's blessings and such feeling of ownership, we hope to make the best out of the donations.

Our warm regards to Kathryn and God bless you.

For EOTOO,

Alice Kwendo

You can see some pictures from my last visit here and read more about how you can help here.  We have about $1,750 toward our goal.  I thank  God that it is already done!  You can give through my website or send a check to PurposeQuest, PO Box 8882, Pittsburgh, PA  15221-0882.  Thank you and Merry Christmas to one and all, and a Happy New Year as well.

Proverbs 26:6

Your daily dose of Proverbs:

“Like cutting off one’s feet or drinking violence
is the sending of a message by the hand of a fool" - 26:6.

This verse uses an extreme analogy, but it indicates that God puts a high premium on faithfulness. You carry the most important message that Jesus was born to save men from their sins. Are you proclaiming it every chance you get?  Read 1 Peter 3:15 to see the kind of eager response the Lord expects you to give to all who ask.

Proverbs 25:3

Your daily dose of Proverbs:

“As the heavens are high and the earth is deep,
so the hearts of kings are unsearchable” - 25:3.

A King was born in Bethlehem and His name is Jesus. The goodness and mercy in His heart are unsearchable, but the Word of God reveals them to us. Celebrate the coming of Christ today and every day and never lose your wonder for the King of glory and His love for you! Read Ephesians 2:3-5 and be reminded of God's great love for you today!

Proverbs 24:20

Your daily dose of Proverbs:

". . . And the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out" - 24:20.

The Christmas story is one of good triumphing over evil. Herod tried to kill the baby Jesus and almost succeeded, killing others in the process. Yet Herod died and his kingdom came to nothing, while Jesus and His flock live forever! Jesus leads His people to victory in this life and the next, overcoming death on their behalf.  Are you living in the reality of this victory? You may want to read 2 Corinthians 2:14 and 1 Corinthians 15:53-55 to remind you of the victory you have in Christ.

THE BIG GOAL:  Don't forget about THE BIG GOAL I have set for December to raise money for the Kenyan EOTOO Paw Paw orphans and widows.  You can see some pictures from my last visit here and read more about how you can help here.  We have about $1,750 toward our goal.  I thank Mara Cheetah God that it is already done!  You can give through my website or send a check to PurposeQuest, PO Box 8882, Pittsburgh, PA  15221-0882.  Thank you and Merry Christmas to one and all, and a Happy New Year as well.

SAFARI: As is my custom, I went on a safari during my time in Kenya. You can see some of my photos here.  And pictures from our orphanage visit can be seen here.

Proverbs 23:22

Your daily dose of Proverbs:

"Listen to your father, who gave you life" - 23:22.

There are those in your life who have spoken to you and brought life and help. It is good to know who those people are and to draw on their help from time to time. Ideally, these folks are in your family, but they can also be an author, a mentor or someone in ministry.  Who speaks to you and it brings vitality to your life and work? In the Christmas story, Joseph received supernatural advice, which he followed, and it saved his family's life! (see Matthew 1:18-25, 2:13 and 2:19-20).

**********************

I want to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas.  May the Lord reveal Himself to you in special ways over the coming days!
