President Obama gave a speech to schoolchildren the other day to start the school year, which some schools chose not to show. Some of what he had to say was so consistent with my purpose message that I thought, "Hey, he's singing my purpose song! I should develop a purpose curriculum for youth and children to reinforce the truth he spoke." Here are some quotes from the president's speech:
"I'm calling on each of you to set your own goals for your education - and to do everything you can to meet them. Your goal can be something as simple as doing all your homework, paying attention in class or spending time each day reading a book."
"I expect you to put your best effort into everything you do. I expect great things from each of you. So don't let us down - don't let your family or your country or yourself down. Make us all proud. I know you can do it."
Pretty good stuff, Mr. President. So what do you say? Is it time for a youth purpose curriculum? (Don't say yes too quickly, for then I will ask you to help fund it!) You can read the president's speech in its entirety here.
Dr. S, when I heard Pres. Obama say those first three statements, I immediately thought of you!!! YES, YES, YES!!...a youth purpose cirriculum is definitely the path. What time/talent/resources do you need to get it going?
